Jet2 hand luggage size: the 10kg bag and the under-seat bag

Amalia
Amalia & Dario Daily underseat backpack, sized to Jet2's 40 x 30 x 20 cm under-seat bag

The Jet2 hand luggage size is 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including wheels and handles, with a weight limit of 10kg, and that bag is included as standard on every Jet2.com flight. On top of it, you can bring one small under-seat bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm, such as a handbag or laptop bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you.

If you want one bag to do the under-seat job, our 40 x 30 x 20 cm underseat backpacks are listed at exactly that size. The rules below were checked on Jet2's website on 6 November 2026.

Checked 6 November 2026 on Jet2's baggage policy page and its hand luggage FAQ. Allowances change; check your booking before you fly.

Does Jet2 include hand luggage?

Yes. Jet2 says each passenger, excluding infants, has a 10kg hand luggage allowance included as standard on all Jet2.com flights. You do not pay extra for the overhead bag. You get both bags: the 56 x 45 x 25 cm hand luggage and the 40 x 30 x 20 cm under-seat bag.

What Jet2 charges for is everything beyond that. Its hand luggage FAQ says any hand baggage over the maximum size, weight or number of pieces incurs a fee per item. On a Jet2.com flight, hold bags are a separate add-on: up to three 22kg bags per person per flight, added through Manage My Booking.

Can I take a handbag and hand luggage on Jet2?

Yes. Jet2's small under-seat bag is described as a handbag, a laptop bag or an airport purchase, so a handbag is exactly what it is for. It must not exceed 40 x 30 x 20 cm and has to go under the seat in front of you. It sits alongside the 10kg bag, not instead of it.

Jet2 does not give a weight limit for the under-seat bag, only a size. It does give it one job: power banks, e-cigarettes and spare lithium batteries must travel in hand luggage and be stored under the seat in front of you, never in a hold bag. So the under-seat bag is the natural home for your charger, your phone and your passport.

Can your 10kg bag still end up in the hold?

It can. Jet2 says that on busy flights it may ask you to put your 10kg hand luggage in the hold, and its FAQ adds that all hand luggage is carried in the cabin at its discretion. If that happens, Jet2 asks you to take out valuables first: travel documents, money, medication, keys, spare lithium batteries and electronics containing lithium batteries.

To avoid it, Jet2 sells Guaranteed Cabin Luggage, subject to availability, in Manage My Booking. With it, you will not be asked to put the bag in the hold unless it exceeds the size or weight limits or operational reasons apply. Either way, packing valuables in the under-seat bag means a last-minute hold transfer costs you nothing but time at reclaim.

What this means for your bag

We checked our own range against both Jet2 sizes, using the dimensions listed on each product page on 6 November 2026. Of 195 bag models that list all three dimensions in centimetres, 188 sit within the 56 x 45 x 25 cm hand luggage size and 146 within the 40 x 30 x 20 cm under-seat size. Of those 146, 14 list a 15-inch laptop in what they fit, so a work tote can be your under-seat bag on Jet2.

For a short trip, the Daily underseat backpack is listed at 40 x 30 x 20 cm, the full Jet2 under-seat size. Its product page gives a 35-litre capacity using built-in vacuum compression, a nylon build and air cushion shoulder straps. Worth knowing: it uses every centimetre of the allowance, so the 35 litres only fit once compressed, and an overfilled front pocket would push it past 20 cm.

Frequently asked questions

What size is Jet2 hand luggage?

Jet2 hand luggage can measure up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including wheels and handles, and weigh up to 10kg. It is included as standard for every passenger except infants. You can also bring a small under-seat bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm, according to Jet2's website on 6 November 2026.

How strict is Jet2 with hand luggage size?

Jet2 says any hand baggage that exceeds the maximum dimensions, weight or number of pieces incurs a fee per item, set out in its baggage fees FAQ. The measurement includes wheels and handles. Measure your bag packed, with a tape measure, and weigh it at home rather than finding out at the airport.

What is the Jet2 underseat bag size?

The Jet2 underseat bag can be up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm and must fit under the seat in front of you. Jet2 gives a handbag, a laptop bag or an airport purchase as examples. It is carried in addition to the 10kg hand luggage, not instead of it.

Does Jet2 weigh hand luggage?

Jet2 sets a 10kg limit on hand luggage and says bags over the weight limit incur a fee per item. Its pages do not say whether every bag is weighed, so plan as if yours will be. A luggage scale at home is the simplest way to stay under 10kg.

In short

If you fly Jet2, your fare already includes 10kg in a 56 x 45 x 25 cm bag, plus a 40 x 30 x 20 cm handbag or laptop bag under the seat. Put your documents, medicine and batteries in the small one, in case the big one is moved to the hold.
